The 2008-9 Season Starts At Dachstein This Weekend

The Dachstein Glacier re-opens for winter 2008-9 this Saturday,  after a month's closure for annual maintenance.

The first ski lift to open will be the "Austriascharte" serving slopes that are currently reporting a 50cm (20 inch) snow base with temperatures on the glacier below zero and thus helping to maintain snow quality.

The Atomic Super park on the Dachstein Glacier is also due to re-open after its summer break, during which time the snow used to make the terrain features was spread over the glacier to help save the natural layer of ice and the unique glacier ecosystem through the hottest weeks of the year.

The park's autumn season lasts then until 30th November and a season ticket is available for adults at € 325.-, Youths at € 276,50 and children at € 165,00 for unlimited use of the park during that time.
The Dachstein cable car accessing the ski area will be open daily from 7.50am to 5.10pm.
